Bayern Munich set date to announce new deal for Jamal Musiala

Bayern Munich clinched a significant deal earlier this month as they reached an agreement with Alphonso Davies for a new contract. It is a crucial investment for Bayern as Davies is one of the best left-backs in the world and has yet to enter the prime years of his career.

The next target for Die Roten is to sort out the contract extension of Jamal Musiala. The German attacking midfielder has more than 15 months left on his current deal. Considering his importance to the squad, Bayern do not want to go into the final year of his contract.

The record Bundesliga champions have been in talks with Musiala and his representatives for several months. It does look like the finishing line is near since Bayern are already planning a date to announce his renewal.

According to Sport1, Bayern have decided to announce Musiala’s contract renewal on February 27, which marks the 125th anniversary of the club. The negotiations are in the final stages, and it looks like a matter of when rather than if regarding Musiala extending his stay in Munich.

Bayern agree to insert release clause in new deal for Jamal Musiala

Sport1 also reveals that Bayern have agreed Musiala’s wish to include a release clause in the new deal. It was previously reported in Germany that the release clause is worth €175 million, which may come into effect two or three years into the new contract.

Considering the high-value deal of the release clause, Die Roten would have made the exception for Musiala. The Bavarian club doesn’t entertain release clauses in contracts, but they had to reluctantly agree in this situation since they faced the prospect of losing Musiala on a free transfer in 2026.

From a wages point of view, Musiala will become one of the top earners in the squad. It has been previously suggested that the entire package for Musiala will cost Bayern close to €120 million.

The numbers involved in the contract extension of Musiala are mindboggling. However, Bayern wants to build the squad around him and make the German star the face of the club. It would have been a travesty if Die Roten had lost Musiala to one of their European rivals. Manchester City have shown concrete interest in Musiala, while other big clubs have joined the race if there was a chance to sign the German international in the summer.

Bayern will turn their attention to a contract extension for Joshua Kimmich once the deal for Musiala is announced. The German midfielder has four months left on his contract. Considering his importance on the pitch, Die Roten will be desperate to secure his future.
