Manchester City and England full-back Kyle Walker remains a transfer target of Bayern Munich ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old signed a new contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2026 in September, ending long-standing interest from Bayern Munich in signing the Englishman from Manchester City throughout the summer transfer window.

Walker had been heavily linked with a potential move to the Allianz Arena, with Pep Guardiola at risk of losing the full-back last summer following the departures of fellow senior pair Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez.

The England defender was made Manchester City captain ahead of the start of the new 2023/24 campaign, having moved to the Etihad Stadium from Tottenham in 2017 for £50 million.

Walker has made 293 appearances for the Sky Blues, and captained Manchester City to a second successive Emirates FA Cup Final on Saturday evening, as Guardiola’s side beat Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley Stadium.

The right-back has recently returned from a hamstring injury, making his first start since March during Wednesday’s loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The 33-year-old could be set to lead the Cityzens to a domestic double, with Manchester City bidding to lift both the Premier League title and Emirates FA Cup trophy next month.

The future of Walker beyond the current campaign could also be set for fresh scrutiny, with Bayern Munich and Saudi Pro League clubs both still interested in signing the full-back ahead of the 2024/25 season.

According to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, the Bundesliga club ‘remain open’ to signing the England international this summer, having previously agreed personal terms with the player last year.

The City skipper also remains subject to interest from Saudi Arabia, with Walker the latest member of Guardiola’s first-team squad to receive offers from the Middle Eastern division.

Kevin De Bruyne is also set for renewed offers from the Saudi Pro League, with the Belgian international entering the final 12-months of his current Manchester City contract at the end of the campaign.

Aymeric Laporte and Mahrez both swapped the Etihad for Saudi Arabia last year, meanwhile Barcelona loanee Joao Cancelo could also move to the league this summer.
