Bayern Munich are reportedly back in the race for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.

The player, whose current contract expires in 2022, plans to discuss a contract extension with the new president of the club.

The Catalan club were tempted to offload the 23-year-old last summer, and would be open to his exit at the end of the current campaign too.

A number of clubs, including Bayern, Chelsea, Juventus, and Manchester United were interested in loaning the Frenchman in the past, but questions over his fitness, form, and attitude scuppered any deals.

However, according to Sport, Barcelona will either extend Dembele’s contract season or listen to offers for the player, so as to avoid losing him for free next year.

Multiple concerns for Bayern to consider

Bayern are one of the clubs linked with the winger, but Hansi Flick’s side will have to take his injury record into consideration.

The Bundesliga champions also have Serge Gnabry and now Leroy Sane in the squad, so it must be asked if they need to add another player in the same position.

Another thing Bayern will have to consider is Barcelona’s asking price for Dembele. Last year, Mundo Deportivo reported that the LaLiga giants would not accept anything less than his release clause of €400m.

With the Spanish club facing financial difficulties, and possible bankruptcy, they will not let Dembele (or any other player) leave on the cheap.
