Bayern Munich have reached an agreement worth a reported €10m including bonuses (€7m plus €3m) to sign FC Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, according to Sky Germany.
The 21-year-old German youth international had 18 months remaining on his contract with the 2. Bundesliga club but will sign a five-year contract with Bayern until 2030. The Rekordmeister’s management see Urbig as a long-term successor to Manuel Neuer, whose contract expires in 2025.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Urbig will undergo his medical in the next 24 hours.
Urbig, who spent last season on loan at Greuther Fürth, has played 11 games across all competitions for the Billy Goats this season, but lost his place to Marvin Schwäbe.
Bayern Munich made three attempts to sign Urbig, and the German youth international will now play understudy to Neuer with Sven Ulreich not in the club’s plans, while Daniel Peretz will also provide competition.
