Bayern Munich secured a comfortable 5–1 victory over Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in their matchday 6 fixture of the UCL League phase. Despite conceding an early goal, Bayern kept their composure and patiently continued their usual business trying to break Shakhtar’s defensive block.
Rekordmeister's efforts were instantly rewarded with an equalizer in the 11th minute. With Thomas Müller’s goal right at the brink of halftime, Bayern went to their dressing room with a deserved 2–1 lead. The ensuing second half was just one-way traffic as the away team kept piling the pressure and eventually secured three more goals before the final whistle. The goalscorers for Bayern on the night were Konrad Laimer, Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala, and Michael Olise, who bagged a brace.
Let’s take a look at the player ratings from the winning team.
Daniel Peretz - 7/10
The early Shakhtar goal on the break meant the the Israeli goalkeeper couldn't keep a clean sheet in his Champions League debut, but he did well in saving all the other shots that came his way.
Konrad Laimer - 8/10
Could've positioned himself better for Shakhtar's early goal. Made up for it quickly with the crucial equalizer and never put the brakes on for the rest of the match.
Dayot Upamecano - 8.5/10
Excellent ball-playing performance from the Frenchman, as he completed the most passes in the game (82). His timing and physicality were a persistent problem for Shakhtar's attackers, as he came out on top in almost every ground and aerial duel.
Kim Min-jae - 8/10
He got spun for Shakhtar’s early goal but put on a solid defensive display for the rest of the game. Kim's dueling prowess was key for Bayern in recovering possession while playing with a high line of defense.
Raphaël Guerreiro - 6.5/10
