Thiago Alcantara left Bayern Munich for English club Liverpool in the summer of 2020 for a sum of 22 million euros. Since then, Bayern have heavily attempted to find his replacement. But with no success so far.
Now, it looks like Bayern will be looking at the quality they have in their ranks to replace Thiago. Due to the corona pandemic, the club cannot spend too much money on new players and their salaries. According to the information of ‘SPORT1’, squad planners will be looking at Bayern’s future star Jamal Musiala to replace Thiago.
The club is in desperate need of a creative midfielder who can link the defense and the attack. Musiala has played as a number 10 and on the wings. In the 2020-21 season, Musiala played for the first time as a number 8 against Union Berlin. This season, Julian Nagelsmann has also allowed Musiala to play as an 8 couple of times due to a few injuries and absences. Nagelsmann is said to have been enthusiastic about the way Musiala interpreted his new role, even off the ball.
Nagelsmann, Salihamidzic, and technical director Marco Neppe believe that Musiala is capable of playing a similar role to Thiago because of his technical qualities, composure with the ball, and his solutions in tight spaces. But one thing should also be clear, Musiala is 18 years old and still has a lot to catch on when it comes to tactical awareness and physical development.
