Bayern Munich have initiated talks with the entourage of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern are “pushing to sign” the Leverkusen defender, who has a contract until 2025. Talks between the Rekordmeister and Tah’s management have already taken place but Bayer Leverkusen have no intention of selling their star defender, with the Bundesliga champions wanting to extend the player’s deal beyond 2025.

With a market value of €30m on Transfermarkt, Tah has played 40 games across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen this season. An integral member of Bayer’s history making team, Tah almost left the club last summer with West Ham United enquiring about the defender last summer.

Bayern Munich’s search for Thomas Tuchel’s successor continues

As reported earlier, Ralf Rangnick is considering an offer from Bayern Munich to become the club’s next coach after it was confirmed in February that the club would part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

Bayern Munich were rejected by their top two candidates, with both Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann extending their contracts with Bayer Leverkusen and the DFB respectively. Roberto De Zerbi, Lucien Favre and Unai Emery are other names that have been linked, with the latter yesterday signing a contract extension with Aston Villa.
