Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern Munich have Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili on their list when it comes to goalkeepers.
The Georgian has attracted interest from English and Italian clubs but now Bayern have also shown interest. However, any transfer soon is unlikely as Bayern are currently prioritising other positions, such as striker, centre-back and midfield.
Another issue is the fact that Bayern currently have too many goalkeepers. Yann Sommer and Alexander Nübel’s futures at the club are uncertain as the return of Manuel Neuer from his broken leg means that the 37-year-old will retain his position as number one at the club, while Sven Ulreich will continue to act as his backup.
A transfer for Mamardashvili would likely only come about when Neuer’s ability is beginning to decline and is no longer as reliable as he use to be, then the Georgian could become his successor.
Mamardashvili’s current contract at Valencia expires in 2027 having signed an extension at the start of last season. The 22-year-old only joined Valencia in 2022 from Dinamo Tbilisi for €850k.
