Bayern Munich have written themselves into the annals by becoming the first team in club history to score 100 Bundesliga goals in a calendar year.
The Bavarians beat Freiburg 2-1 on Saturday, with Leon Goretzka and Robert Lewandowski netting to help them earn the points and reach the landmark.
It brings the tally of Julian Nagelsmann’s side to 40 already this term to add to the 60 they notched under Hansi Flick in last season’s Rückrunde.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić claimed the achievement was indicative of the “hunger” the defending champions have.
“The team is incredibly hungry, even if they’ve already scored two or three goals,” he said, per the Bayern website.
But he insisted Die Roten will not rest on their laurels, and will look to become as stingy in defence as they are clinical in attack.
“We’ve only conceded 11 goals so far, but we want to concede even fewer,” Salihamidžić said.
Victory over Freiburg helped Bayern open up a four-point lead over Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table.
