Despite intense speculation about his future, Robert Lewandowski will not be leaving Bayern Munich this summer.

That is according to Sky Sport in Germany, who insist the Poland international is “not for sale”.

The 32-year-old is contracted with the Bavarians until 2023, and the report suggests that the Bundesliga champions are open to extending that deal.

Given Lewandowski’s record-breaking 41-goal haul in the league last season, it is no surprise that he is considered off limits in terms of possible outgoings.

Sky suggest that Bayern’s stretched finances are also a factor in their reticence to entertain offers for their goal machine.

They are content to work mainly with the players already at Julian Nagelsmann’s disposal, and do not have the desire or means to engage in an overhaul of the squad.

With many of the top European clubs badly effected by the economic crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, there is extreme skittishness in the market.

The report expects that teams will wait until the final days of the transfer window to try and force through any major deals.

However Bayern are almost certain to refrain from any deadline day shenanigans, as the top brass at Säbener Strasse continue to cut their cloth.
