Bayern Munich 'express interest' in River Plate forward Julian Álvarez

Bayern Munich have reportedly become the latest side to express interest in River Plate forward Julian Álvarez.

Álvarez enjoyed a breakout season for his boyhood club, scoring 19 goals and assisting seven in 16 appearances as River won their first title since 2014.

According to TyC, the Bayern have ‘already discussed’ making a move for the 21-year-old despite their previous reluctance to sign players directly from South America.

Álvarez is comfortable playing across the forward line and has already been linked with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Inter.

It’s understood the Bundesliga giants are searching for an understudy to Robert Lewandowski who, despite his age, continues to score at unprecedented rates.
