Bayern Munich are currently facing a tall order of contract renewals with several players seeing their deals in Bavaria run out at the end of the season or in 2026.

With such quality players potentially available on free transfers, several of Europe’s elites are trying to woo targets to look for a change in scenery at the end of their deal. The situation of Jamal Musiala is similar.

The youngster, who is widely regarded as Bayern Munich’s best young talent, sees his contract with the club run out in 2026.

Next summer, he will only have one year left and several clubs in Europe are looking to pounce on his signing, Barcelona included.

An update on his renewal

As relayed by Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich sporting director Maximilian Eberl recently issued an update on the young gem’s contract renewal status and expressed great optimism over the same.

“We’re talking very intensively, well, a lot,” he began saying.

When asked to elaborate on how close the deal was and whether it could be closed this year, he said, “Signing before Christmas? I would like to put it under everyone’s Christmas tree, but I can’t promise that today.”

Barcelona hope to enter the next summer transfer window with a renewed budget after securing massive sponsorships. They are closer than ever to the 1:1 rule and a few manoeuvres may be all it takes.

Given Musiala’s market value of €130 million, however, signing him will be very complicated, more so if the renewal works out and the player extends in Germany.

Meanwhile, on the sporting front, the youngster netted an 85th-minute equaliser in Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw in Der Klasikker last night and has already scored six goals in the Bundesliga this season. At just 21 years of age, he has a bright future ahead of him.
