Inter have been handed a boost in their efforts to land Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram after Bayern Munich ended their interest in him.

According to German news outlet Bild, the Bundesliga champions have decided that Thuram does not fit the profile for the type of striker that they are looking for and will opt against pursuing a move for the Frenchman.

Instead, Bayern will focus their attention on signing Tottenham Hotspur and England captain Harry Kane, although it is accepted in Bavaria that a deal for the 29-year-old would be difficult.

Nonetheless, Bayern are looking for a more traditional centre-forward and will not make an approach for Thuram, giving Inter a greater chance of securing a deal for him.

Thuram is out of contract at Gladbach at the end of the season and has made clear his desire to leave, making him available on a free transfer from June onwards.
