Bayern Munich chief trying to engineer exits of three stars

Bayern Munich are expected to make significant changes in the squad during the summer transfer window. The Bavarian club wants to focus on strengthening the attack and defense. However, moves for high-profile targets will heavily depend on Bayern’s ability to generate funds from sales.

Die Roten wanted to sell several senior players last summer, but they couldn’t convince players to leave, and the big wages turned out to be a big stumbling block for interested clubs. Max Eberl is hoping to achieve better results in departures over the next transfer window.

According to Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschaffl (via iMiaSanMia), Eberl will try to convince Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leon Goretzka to explore transfer away from Bavaria in the summer.

Coman is open to leaving Bavaria, but he will need an attractive project to facilitate the transfer. There was strong interest from the Premier League, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia last summer, but a move never materialized. The French winger has done well under Vincent Kompany this season.

Meanwhile, Goretzka and Gnabry are not interested in moving away from Bavaria in the summer. The German duo is open to running down their contracts that expire in 2026. There was interest in both players last summer, but they were determined to stay in Munich. Both have done well under Kompany, but they are not in the club’s long-term plans.

Leroy Sane yet to get a signal about contract extension at Bayern

Apart from the above-mentioned trio, Leroy Sane is also facing an uncertain future at Bayern. The German winger has less than five months left on his contract. Sane is eager to stay in Munich, but the club chiefs are not certain about offering him a new deal. The update from SportBild reporters confirmed Die Roten’s hesitance over contract talks with Sane.

Bayern are reportedly unsure about giving a contract to Sane due to his inconsistent performances since arriving from Manchester City in 2020. Moreover, Sane is one of the top earners in the squad. Die Roten need to make space for new arrivals in the summer, which suggests Sane may be one of the players leaving the club in the summer.

Die Roten have identified Florian Wirtz as the top target to strengthen the attack in the summer. They have also registered interest in Jamie Gittens, Christopher Nkunku, and Jonathan David. If Eberl manages to facilitate departures, two new attacking players may arrive at Sabner Strasse in the summer.
