Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness was in no mood to celebrate the team's latest Bundesliga triumph and instead took aim at some players for supposedly not pulling their weight in the pursuit of the trophy this season.

Julian Nagelsmann's side were out in Munich on Sunday to celebrate a tenth consecutive title with the fans, but the mood turned sour when Hoeness took to the stage and unleashed a stunning criticism of some corners of the dressing room.

"The fact is that we have to hold the players more accountable," he said. "With us, the coach or the sporting director is always held accountable.

"The fact is that since Christmas we've had a few players who, by and large, haven't played well. These players need to be put under more pressure."

Hoeness saved the best of his criticism for departing centre-back Niklas Sule, who has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. The German was not present at the celebrations and missed Saturday's 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg.

"I found his actions catastrophic," he said. "That doesn't speak for the player.

"We always talk about appreciation. Niklas Sule certainly didn't show that to the club. You can all forget the myth that he earns less in Dortmund than in Munich."

Hoeness wanted the players to take more blame for the side's disappointing performance in the Champions League, which saw them crash out at the hands of Villarreal in the quarter-final, and shifted fault away from sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.

"There's always one picked out," Hoeness continued. "When we won six titles [in 2020 and 2021], I didn't hear anyone shouting, 'Hasan, Hasan!'

"Now that we don't win the Champions League, it's all his fault. That cannot be."
