After a dull first half in which neither side presented a dangerous opportunity, the hosts finally began to pile on the attacking chances in the 60th minute.

Though Augsburg had little in the way of a response, they were able to successfully park the bus and give Bayern a big scare for the better part of 80 minutes.

Despite the brave resistance, Augsburg were the victims of a cruel handball in the box, allowing Robert Lewandowski to step up to the spot and score his 32nd Bundesliga goal, his 46th in all competitions this season.

That defeat leaves Augsburg 14th in the table.
