Bayern Munich kicked off the new Bundesliga season with a statement victory away at Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night.

The reigning champions were 5-0 up at half-time, with Sadio Mané netting on his Bundesliga debut.

Scorers: Kolo Muani 64′; Kimmich 5′, Pavard 10′, Mané 29′, Musiala 35′, 83′, Gnabry 43′

With pyro smoke filling the air, Bayern made a fast start and went in front after just five minutes, with Joshua Kimmich finding the net with a clever free-kick to catch the goalkeeper out at his near post.

And in the 10th minute it was 2-0, this time Benjamin Pavard rattling home a loose ball from inside the area.

Then, with not even 30 minutes on the clock, Mané got in on the act to score his first Bundesliga goal when he headed home at the near post from Serge Gnabry’s clever dinked cross.

It was soon 4-0, with Mané slipping in Thomas Müller, who squared for Jamal Musiala to tap into the empty net.

And two minutes before half-time, Gnabry got in on the act to make it an astonishing 5-0.

Things got slightly better for Eintracht in the second half, when substitute Randal Kolo Muani pulled a goal back minutes after Kristijan Jakić had had one ruled out for offside.

But what little joy they got from that goal was short-lived, with Musiala soon grabbing his second of the game to make it 6-1.

Next up, Bayern host Wolfsburg next Sunday, while Eintracht face another tough test against Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup in Helsinki on Wednesday.
