Bayern Munich and Newcastle United are interested in signing Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer.

Zinchenko could be allowed to leave Arsenal at the end of the season after a mixed second season with the Gunners, with the Ukraine international having struggled for form and fitness after an impressive debut campaign last term.

The 27-year-old signed for Arsenal from Manchester City in a £30m deal in 2022 and starred as Mikel Arteta’s team pushed for the Premier League title last season.

However, his defensive strength has been criticised during the current campaign and Jakub Kiwior has recently cemented his place at left-back with a strong run of form.

Football Transfers are reporting that Bayern Munich have placed Zinchenko near the top of their summer shortlist, with Alphonso Davies strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Reports earlier this month suggested the Canada international has agreed a summer switch to Spain and Zinchenko is viewed as a readymade replacement.

Newcastle are also monitoring Zinchenko’s situation and could make an approach to sign the full-back. Eddie Howe has persisted with Dan Burn at left-back for much of the campaign, though the 31-year-old has been exposed on occasion.

Arsenal would reportedly demand a fee of around €45m (£38m) for Zinchenko, a sale which could help fund the club’s move to sign a centre-forward. Arteta said this week that the club’s transfer plans remain unchanged despite a recent run of prolific goalscoring form.

The Gunners also have Jurrien Timber, who started the opening weekend at left-back before an ACL injury, and Takehiro Tomiyasu who can deputise at full-back.
