As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have agreed to sign Maccabi Tel Aviv goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.
The German champions have agreed a €5m fee for the 23-year-old shot-stopper, who will offer competition to Sven Ulreich while Manuel Neuer continues to recover from his surgery. The Israeli international will receive a long-term deal which could see him eventually replace Neuer as Bayern’s future number one.
However, Peretz is still set to play one final game for Maccabi Tel Aviv in a Europa Conference League qualifying match against NK Celje on Thursday. Nevertheless, after this, he will undergo his medical at Bayern ahead of completing his move to the club.
Last season, Peretz featured 45 times for Maccabi Tel Aviv where he would collect an impressive 25 clean sheets in all competitions. So far in this campaign, Peretz has kept three clean sheets from four Europa Conference League qualifiers, proving his potential in European competition.
Nonetheless, after a summer of speculation, Bayern have finally found an alternative to Ulreich. Many names had been linked with the Rekordmeister but after the sale of Yann Sommer to Inter Milan, Bayern will be relieved to have finally signed a possible long-term replacement for the ageing – and injured – Neuer.
