Leipzig’s plan was clear from the off, hit Bayern on the break as they get comfortable in possession – and it worked to a tee in the first half.

While Bayern saw most of the ball in the first half, they were undone by a lightning-quick counter capped off by Loïs Openda to give the hosts the lead.

Their advantage was doubled just six minutes later when Castello Lukeba scored from a corner after Sven Ulreich missed his punch.

But Bayern wouldn’t be kept out for long after the break, and a Harry Kane strike from the penalty spot after a Benjamin Henrichs handball reignited the affair.

The home crowd was stunned in the final 20 minutes when Bayern showed off their own counter-attacking skills, ripping through the Leipzig midfield before Leroy Sané slotted home form in behind the defence to snatch a hard-fought point for the champions.

The dramatic draw sees Bayern end the day in third place in the Bundesliga, sitting behind Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart.
