Despite playing a full-strength team, Bayern Munich struggled to make an impact against RB Salzburg.

Jamal Musiala was back pulling the strings for the German giants and connected with Ryan Gravenberch on the wing.

The Dutchman teed the ball up for Leroy Sané and his perfectly-placed strike opened the scoring within 10 minutes.

However, just one break let the visitors find the equaliser as Sékou Koïta split Bayern’s centre-backs and beat goalkeeper Sven Ulreich for 1-1.

The likes of Musiala, Sané, Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Müller and others attempted to find a second goal, but all fell short.

Coming out into the second half, Salzburg made 10 substitutions, and the new-look side put Bayern to the sword.

Two goals within three minutes from Karim Konaté and Noah Okafor made a mockery of the opposition’s defence to go up 3-1.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann then made 10 substitutions himself, including new signing Daley Blind, Kingsley Coman and Marcel Sabitzer.

Eventually, Arijon Ibrahimović pulled one back with a long-range shot from outside the box, and Coman equalised minutes later.

Then in the dying moments, drama ensued as a brilliant solo run from Mathys Tel turned the match 4-3 before Okafor equalised seconds later on a breakaway.

Bayern now looks ahead to its Bundesliga clash with RB Leipzig on 20 January.
