Joshua Kimmich’s future still seems to be open. Will he stay at FC Bayern or move to another club? In the event of a departure from Munich, Kimmich is said to have already identified a club of his choice.
Joshua Kimmich apparently already has his sights set on a dream club in England in the event of a transfer abroad.
This was reported by English journalist Dean Jones on GIVEMESPORT: „If Kimmich had to choose between Liverpool and Manchester City, I think he would be leaning towards the Etihad Stadium,“ said Jones.
The decisive factor would be Man City coach Pep Guardiola. Kimmich has already worked with him at Bayern, and the Catalan coach is regarded as a great supporter of the German international.
„The Pep Guardiola factor would be huge and Kimmich has adaptable strengths that would fit in well with the way this team rotates and sets up,“ explained Jones.
Liverpool FC are also thought to be interested in Kimmich, but Jones believes the Reds‘ chances are slim: „At Liverpool, they don’t really know how he would fit in yet because there is a change of manager and it’s not entirely clear which position he should play in,“ he explained, referring to Jürgen Klopp’s departure from Anfield Road at the end of the season.
Jones added: „I also have the feeling that Kimmich has had Manchester City on his mind for some time. Their interest is known and he knows that.“
Kimmich’s contract with FC Bayern expires in the summer of 2025. If no agreement can be reached on an extension, the German record champions would have to sell the 29-year-old in the summer if they want to avoid a transfer-free departure.
Kimmich himself recently told WELT about his future: „The situation is very clear for me. I still have over a year left on my contract, so I’m relaxed.“
According to Sky, the only possible clubs for Kimmich in the event of his departure from Munich are Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, FC Arsenal, FC Liverpool and Manchester City.
