FC Bayern’s search for a coach is about to be finalised. According to the latest reports, those responsible want to make a decision at the end of April as to who will take over from Thomas Tuchel in Munich in the summer. As has now become known, Bayern’s supervisory board around club patron Uli Hoeneß will play a decisive role.
The list of potential coaching candidates at FC Bayern has been significantly reduced in recent weeks and days. As Sky, Abendzeitung München and Sport BILD all report, there are three names on the shortlist: Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick and Unai Emery. Roberto de Zerbi is also rumoured to still be an option. However, the Italian is no longer considered a top candidate.
According to Sky, Max Eberl in particular is pushing for a comeback for Nagelsmann and has held intensive talks with the 36-year-old’s management in recent days. However, a final decision has not yet been made in this regard, as reported by Sport BILD.
According to Sport BILD, Eberl is currently preparing a list of coaching candidates, which he will present to the Bayern supervisory board. Even though the search for a coach is the responsibility of the sporting director, the supervisory board wants to know everything about the new coach. Accordingly, the board is afraid that another failure could also fall back on them. FCB has banished three coaches in less than three years.
According to reports, club patron Uli Hoeneß is in favour of a Nagelsmann return. The honorary president has repeatedly emphasised that his dismissal in March 2023 was a mistake. According to rumours, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who also sits on the Munich supervisory board, is sceptical about the Nagelsmann case. It remains to be seen what President and Supervisory Board Chairman Herbert Hainer thinks about a comeback for the former coach.
