Julian Nagelsmann has been surprisingly sacked as coach of Bayern Munich and been replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

The 35-year-old had been in charge since the summer of 2021 and won the Bundesliga during his maiden season in charge.

However, the club have made the shock announcement during the international break that they have parted ways with Nagelsmann.

Although he has guided the Bavarians through in both the Champions League and DFB-Pokal, defeat last weekend to Bayer Leverkusen saw Bayern slip behind Borussia Dortmund in the league table.

Tuchel will now take over on a deal until June 2025 and begin training on Monday.

His first game in charge will be against Bundesliga leaders and rivals Dortmund, who he coached from 2015 until 2017.
