Speaking about his future, Bayer Leverkusen striker Lucas Alario has ruled out a return to Argentina and would rather stay in Europe for the time being.
“They [River Plate] called me about a return,” Alario told ESPN, “but that possibility never crossed my mind. I want to continue playing and living in Europe.”
Alario is allowed to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer for a reported €6.5 million with Eintracht Frankfurt in advanced talks to sign the 29-year-old.
The contract extension of Patrik Schick and signings of Sardar Azmoun and Adam Hložek, Alario will find himself down in the pecking order, a position the Argentine doesn’t want to be in what is a World Cup year.
Alario signed a contract extension last summer but only so B04 don’t miss out on a transfer fee for the striker, who averaged a goal every 106 minutes last season with six goals in 636 minutes across 27 Bundesliga games.
