Despite intensive efforts from VfB Stuttgart, it looks to be the case that Bayer Leverkusen will win the race to sign Hertha BSC attacker Ibrahim Maza. The German-Algerian has been courted by several Bundesliga sides.
Both Kicker and Sport Bild report that the defending Bundesliga champions have lured the teenager with the promise of Champions League football next season. Leverkusen’s interest in the young talent has been common knowledge for quite some time.
A €9.5m exit clause in his current contract enables Maza to depart Charlottenburg after the season. The two German sources nevertheless report that Hertha will still seek a transfer fee between €11m and €15m for their player.
This should serve as no problem for Germany’s red company team. Kicker reports that Maza has made his decision and the transfer will be finalised in the next ten days. Maza has scored five second division goals this season.
