Kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen are interested in Freiburg right-back Kiliann Sildillia, but Freiburg are trying to tie down the 20-year-old with a contract extension.
Sildillia’s current contract expires in 2024, so Freiburg must try to negotiate an extension with the Frenchman. If they fail to reach an agreement, Sildillia must be sold in the summer, but Freiburg are not in a weak negotiating position as they are still in the fight for Champions League football.
Leverkusen sees the 20-year-old as a potential replacement for Jeremie Frimpong who could leave in the summer. Sildillia can also play as a right-sided centre-back and with Leverkusen lacking depth in central defence, he could add to that.
Sildillia is currently worth €12m and has played 31 times for Freiburg across the right-back and centre-back positions.
Freiburg are attempting to keep their current team together but along with Sildillia, the futures of Phillip Lienhart and goalkeeper Mark Flekken are now in doubt.
