Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo has made it clear that he has always dreamed of playing for Barcelona.
In an interview with SPORT, the defender, who developed his skills at La Masia, has openly admitted that his priority is to return to Spain, specifically to the club where he spent several years during his formative years as a footballer.
Grimaldo has been enjoying a strong spell at Bayer Leverkusen, where he continues to grow both as a player and as a professional.
However, despite his success in Germany, his long-term ambition remains unchanged.

Grimaldo envisions himself returning to Spanish football, with Barcelona being his ultimate goal. He believes he is maturing in his game and feels that the right moment to make a move back home could be approaching.
“It is a goal that I have. I have it very clear in my head, even the club knows it.
“I want to return to Spain in the medium and short term and I would like to try the experience of being in Spain because in the end, it is my country.”
The left-back has never hidden his attachment to Barcelona. He recalls his childhood interviews where he expressed his desire to play for the first team, and that dream has remained alive throughout his career.
“I grew up at La Masia, it’s the club where I’ve grown as a player and as a person and it’s the club I dreamed of playing for since I was a child.
“I remember some interviews as a child in which I already said that my dream was to reach the Barça first team And that has always remained my dream,” he admitted.

When asked about the possibility of joining Real Madrid, Grimaldo remained diplomatic. He acknowledged that football is unpredictable, and one can never be certain about what the future holds.
“It’s something I don’t want to get into either because football goes around a lot and you never know what can happen.
“But it’s clear, as I told you before, that I grew up at Barça and in the end when you’ve been at La Masia for seven or eight years you always carry that with you. That’s what I can tell you right now.”
While no concrete move is on the table yet, Grimaldo’s intentions are clear. If an opportunity arises, he would seize the chance to return to Barcelona, fulfilling the ambition he has held since childhood.
