kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen is interested in Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton as they are looking to add depth to their midfield options.

With the injury to Exequiel Palacios, the departures of Gustavo Puerta and Noah Mbamba and the fact that Robert Andrich will also be used in central defence. This means Leverkusen need extra depth alongside Granit Xhaka and Aleix Garcia. Leverkusen had shown interest in Arthur Vermeeren, who has a very similar profile to Morton, but the Belgian opted to join RB Leipzig.

Liverpool are demanding €25m for Morton, but Leverkusen are unwilling to spend that type of money on the 21-year-old. Instead, Die Werkself want to bring him in on loan whether there will be a purchase option or obligation to buy at the end of the loan is unknown. Liverpool previously rejected an approach from Leipzig for Morton due to the loan with an option to buy.

Last season, Morton spent the season on loan at Championship side Hull City, where he played 41 times for the Tigers. The 21-year-old also featured heavily in pre-season for Liverpool in the US.
