The Bundesliga club have been in contact with Pachuca and the midfielder’s representatives to kick off negotiations for a potential move, 90min understands. But it won't be easy for the German side, as Chavez remains a vital component of the Liga MX team and has two more years left on his contract.

The 26-year-old first kicked off his professional career with Club Tijuana in 2014, recording three goals and 21 assists in 71 appearances before transferring to Pachuca in 2019.

Chavez has since been a standout figure for the Tuzos, managing 13 goals and six assists in 117 games to inspire the club to consecutive Liga MX finals and the 2022 Liga MX Apertura trophy.

Internationally, the midfielder holds 12 caps for the Mexican national team after debuting on April 27, 2022, in a friendly against Guatemala. He played an integral part in El Tri’s 2022 World Cup campaign, starting all three group-stage matches and scoring one stunning free-kick goal against Saudi Arabia.
