Another defender is needed at the club though as Mario Hermoso has now returned from his loan spell in addition to Tah leaving.

Despite this, the signing of Hermoso on a permanent deal is being considered.

The Spaniard joined Leverkusen for the second half of the 2024/25 season from AS Roma and made seven appearances.

Another defender being considered is AC Milan centre back Malick Thiaw.

Milan have failed to qualify for European football this season, meaning that some players may have to be sold in order for a rebuild to take place.

The 23-year-old has previous experience in German football as he made 61 appearances for Schalke 04.

According to Kicker, Leverkusen are looking for a centre back with a strong right foot and a high level of leadership qualities, something which Tah provided for the club over several seasons.
