Over the course of the summer transfer window, the Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich transfer saga has often taken centre stage.

At times, the Bayer Leverkusen defender often appeared to be imminently close to leaving the BayArena, while at others, the transfer seemed difficult to complete.

However, this has severely frustrated Leverkusen, who believed they had an agreement in place with Bayern.

It is understood that Die Werkself had agreed on a €30 million fee with Der Rekordmeister surrounding a deal with Tah that would be completed once Matthijs de Ligt officially signed for Manchester United.

Nevertheless, Bayern pulled out of this deal, as it was not a written agreement, hoping to secure the German defender for less money—something that Leverkusen were not willing to do.

Therefore, in an interview with kicker, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro offered a verbal attack on Bayern Munich’s director of sport, Max Eberl: “Well, I don’t think much of Max Eberl; absolutely nothing! And I wouldn’t negotiate with him.”

Ultimately, it appears as though the final outcome of this transfer saga suggests that when the two teams meet, it could be quite a feisty affair, with the fireworks having already begun off the pitch.

As well as this, the working relationship between the two clubs is visibly fractured, which could be detrimental for both in the long run, especially for Bayern, who are hoping to target Florian Wirtz in 2025.
