Barry Ferguson joins the growing Rangers pundits defending Russell Martin

Barry Ferguson, briefly adored and loved as Rangers interim coach, has sadly reverted to type with a few comments in the press that arguably gaslight the club. Barry Ferguson defends Russell Martin, unsurprisingly.

We all remember the boy slaughtering Tavernier as a pundit, including his captaincy, then as interim coach endorsing him entirely.

He was also absolutely horrible as Rangers coach itself. 33% win ratio – and he’s endorsing now a coach with the same ratio.

Clement

No mention of the fact that Philippe Clement, as crap as he was, managed 62% win ratio. Last season with a lot of the same squad.

The same squad Barry himself crashed to a percentage around half of his predecessor.

Now, before we continue, Barry says many things which are right for a Rangers man to say, to point out our high standards et al.

But then:

“It’s not fair or reasonable to hold Martin responsible for what has gone on at the club over the last decade or so.”

Really? Gaslighting the club over the fact our current coach is dire and completely inappropriate?

Seems a little unfair on the fans to be told the coach is nothing to do with the problems of the past decade as a way to justify how rotten he is.

This is because Ferguson spoke to Martin and was duped like the board. They fell for the boy’s lip service.

Lip Service

Martin, it seems, can talk a good game, but clearly can’t implement the thing. Not in a way that is any good for Rangers in the here and now.

And Rangers as a club should not be gaslit over 15 years based on that.

Martin was a dud choice – we all know it. He has four wins of 12 in total, including friendlies. It’s an abhorrent record.

End of the day, Ferguson is a media type these days, who like a few others like Alan Shearer, Neil McCann and Gary Neville, have given management a go and failed.

We know he wants the best for our club, and we do have time for him, a lot of it, but it doesn’t mean we’ll agree with everything the lad says. Barry Ferguson defends Russell Martin?

In his position he needs to show a little more care.
