Barry Douglas has explained how his surprise move from Wolves to Leeds transpired two years ago.
The Scotland international was an integral part of the Wolves side that won The Championship in 2017/18.
The now 30-year-old scored five goals and provided 14 assists to help the Molineux club gain promotion to the Premier League.
As part of a Q&A session on the Leeds Facebook account, the full-back told how Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo broke the unexpected news to him.
“It was very fast to be honest,” Douglas said.
“I started pre-season with Wolves. There was a lot happening because it was obviously on the back of winning The Championship.
“It was a busy summer.
“There was all go and then I was just in pre-season and Nuno came and spoke to me and said ‘look, this is the plan for the club moving forward, and we have had an offer from Leeds and we are going to accept it. Ultimately it’s up to you but this is where we are at’.
“So, I quickly made a decision, signed for Leeds and never looked back.”
Leeds paid around £3m for the Glasgow native.
Douglas and his current team-mates led The Championship by a point from West Brom before games were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
