Nuno Espirito Santo to be named Tottenham manager claims Alasdair Gold

According to Football.london’s reliable Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold, Tottenham Hotspur are likely to name Nuno Espirito Santo their next manager in the coming week, barring a major turnaround.

The past couple of months, since the sacking of Jose Mourinho as manager, have been quite frustrating for Tottenham. With the club having been able to reach an agreement with a number of managerial targets including Antonio Conte, Nuno seems to have emerged as the leading candidate for the job. (h/t Daily Mail)

The 47-year-old is currently unattached to any club after having resigned from his post at Wolves at the end of the 2020/21 season. Prior to that, Nuno was in charge of things at the Molineux Stadium for four years and did a fine job, winning promotion to the top-flight in his debut season and then achieving back-to-back seventh-place finishes.

This past season was a difficult one, though, as Wolves ended in 13th place in the league table. Nevertheless, Tottenham seem to be pressing ahead with the Portuguese as their next manager with Gold reporting that extensive talks have taken place between the club and Nuno.

The journalist further adds that newly-appointed Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici is an admirer of Nuno. The 47-year-old’s potential appointment has sparked mixed reactions within the Tottenham supporters with many unhappy because of the style of play that he would bring in, which would be much similar to the Mourinho era.

Nonetheless, it seems like it will be Nuno will be taking over the reins at the club. In fact, Gold even adds that an appointment could be made as early as next week, just in time before the pre-season kicks off.

So, as Gold claims, barring any last minute about turns, Nuno could very well become the next Tottenham manager even if it might not prove to be the most popular appointment among some section of fans.
