Barnsley are closing in on sealing a permanent deal for Kilmarnock forward Oli Shaw, according to The Scottish Sun’s transfer blog (25/01, 18:00).
It is understood that the Reds have agreed a fee with Killie for the 24-year-old and are confident that they will be able to finalise a move before the window shuts next week.
Shaw has dropped down the pecking order at Kilmarnock this season as he has only made 12 league appearances for the club.
The forward was not included in the match-day squads for Killie’s recent Scottish Premiership clashes with Celtic and Rangers.
In the absence of Shaw, Kilmarnock suffered defeats to both of the aforementioned sides.
Shaw was also an unused substitute in last weekend’s Scottish FA Cup clash with Dumbarton.
If the forward goes on to secure a move to Oakwell in the coming days, he will become Barnsley’s fourth signing of the window.
Max Watters and Bobby Thomas were recently signed on temporary deals by the Reds from Cardiff City and Burnley.
Barry Cotter meanwhile sealed a permanent move to the club from Shamrock Rovers for an undisclosed fee earlier this month.
All three of these aforementioned players could potentially feature for Barnsley when they face Oxford United on February 1st.

The Verdict
Barring a major twist, Shaw will become the latest player to make a move to the Reds.
Having played in Scotland for the entirety of his career to date, it will be interesting to see how the forward will fare in the third-tier of English football.
While it may take Shaw some time to adapt to life at Oakwell, he could go on to become an influential member of the club’s squad as he has managed to illustrate some signs of promise for Kilmarnock in recent years.
Since making the switch to Rugby Park in 2021, Shaw has scored 20 goalsthree assists for his team-mates.
By finding the back of the net on a regular basis in a Barnsley shirt over the course of the coming months, he could help the club qualify for the play-offs.
