Bari fans expressed their discontent with the possible appointment of Fabio Cannavaro, pushing the club to turn to Beppe Iachini.

The Puglian outfit currently sit 15th in the Serie B table after 23 games, sitting just six points clear of the relegation zone. The team started the season with Michele Mignani at the helm before replacing him in October with Pasquale Marino, who managed just four wins over his 14 games in charge.

Marino has now been dismissed by Bari, who are looking around for the right man to replace him. Their next game is against Lecco on February 10th, a match that could ultimately prove key in a possible relegation battle.

Page 32 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Bari fans protested against the idea of hiring Cannavaro to replace Marino, not wanting the former defender in the dugout on the Puglian coast.

The fans were unhappy with his record as a coach and his affiliations with Napoli, pushing the club to start considering alternate options.

Fiorentina and Palermo coach Iachini, who could now take over for the remainder of the season.
