Nicolo Barella is in the process of negotiating a new contract with Inter and has reportedly agreed to the terms of a deal following weeks of talks.

The 27-year-old Italian midfielder has continued to shine in Simone Inzaghi’s squad this term, scoring two goals and providing six assists across 29 league games, playing a key role in the club’s charge to the Scudetto.

In the closing stages of the summer transfer window last year, Manchester City approached Inter to officially request information about Barella and his position in the market. The 27-year-old put a stop to the idea, wanting to move forward in the Lombardy capital.

Barella talks

Pasquale Guarro of Calciomercato.com details how Inter have been in talks with Barella and his entourage since their Supercoppa Italiana commitments back in January, and negotiations have continued to progress over the last few weeks.

The Italian midfielder has reached a verbal agreement regarding a new deal with the Nerazzurri, and things will now progress to completion over the coming weeks, with the 27-year-old keen to move forward with the club following Manchester City’s interest last summer.
