Over 30,000 were at Old Trafford to see Manchester United beat Aston Villa in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Manchester United 5-0 Aston Villa (Att: 30,196)  Arsenal 1-0 Everton (Att: 3,395) Leicester City 0-8 Chelsea

Katie Zelem scored 13 minutes into her 100th appearance for Manchester United, after Hannah Hampton parried Alessia Russo’s effort from an Ona Batlle cross.

Ella Toone slipped the ball through for Leah Galton to double the lead, before the break Villa had an Alisha Lehmann reply ruled out for offside.

It was 3-0 five minutes after the restart, Russo with a far-post finish from Toone’s cross. Villa passed up a number of chances to reduce the arrears, before Batlle blasted in off the bar for United’s fourth and set up Rachel Williams for a stoppage-time tap-in.

Chelsea scored eight times to inflict a ninth straight defeat on Leicester City, and end Saturday back on top of the league.

Chelsea stormed into a 5-0 interval lead at Leicester City, as Guro Reiten had a amazing half of one goal and four assists.

Fran Kirby set up Reiten for the opener, Jessie Fleming, Kirby, Niamh Charles and Sam Kerr all then finding the net.

Fleming fired in her second five minutes after the restart, Beth England headed home an Alsu Abdullina cross, Kirby then doubled her tally.

Arsenal went ahead midway through the first half against Everton, Vivianne Miedema working space to rifle a shot into the roof of the net.

Emily Ramsey denied Caitlin Foord a late second goal for the Gunners, after which Everton’s Lucy Graham saw her effort cleared off the line.

Leah Williamson returned from injury to make her 200th appearance for Arsenal, who now sit one goal behind second-placed Manchester United.
