Everton beat Liverpool in front of over 27,000 at Anfield in the Barclays Women’s Super League Merseyside derby clash.

Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Reading (Att: 5,220) Leicester City 0-2 Aston Villa West Ham United 0-2 Manchester United (Att: 2,104) Chelsea 2-0 Manchester City (Att: 4,403) Liverpool 0-3 Everton (Att: 27, 574)

Everton win at Anfield

Megan Finnegan headed Everton in front after only nine minutes and Liverpool went 2-0 down when Nathalie Bjorn sent clear Jess Park, who cooly beat keeper and defender to slot home. Ceri Holland came closest to getting the hosts back into the game but put a curled effort wide. Everton wrapped up the win late on in a breakaway, Hanna Bennison with the finish.

Although Manchester City began strongly, it was Chelsea who led at the interval, Fran Kirby turning in a Guro Reiten cross. With 13 minutes to go, the hosts increased their advantage with a powerful Maren Mjelde penalty, given when Sophie Ingle’s shot was handled in the box.

Man Utd win after quick second-half double

Ella Toone had an effort ruled out for offside but Manchester United made the breakthrough soon after the break, Maya le Tissier sending Lucía García clear to finish. Five minutes later it was 2-0, Hannah Blundell scoring from an Ona Batlle cut-back. Although Lucy Parker though she had reduced the arrears for the Hammers, her goal was ruled out for offside.

Back-t0-back victories for Villa

Aston Villa were ahead after only three minutes from the penalty spot, Rachel Daly making no mistake following the foul on Kirsty Hanson. Kirstie Levell kept Leicester in it when turning a Danielle Turner free-kick onto the bar but late on substitute Emily Gielnik sealed the victory from a Kenza Dali pass.

Grace Moloney made several saves for Reading before they were denied a goal themselves, when the flag was raised for offside. but when Moloney failed to clear a cross, Lee Geum-min tucked the loose ball home for an interval lead. Lee Geum-min turned provider for Albion’s second goal ten minutes from time, Katie Robinson finding the net. Charlie Wellings thumped home a consolation in added time for the Royals.
