Pernille Harder forced two saves from Anna Leat, one from a Jonna Andersson cross, as Chelsea drew a blank in the first half against West Ham.

For the Hammers, Katerina Svitkova curled a free kick narrowly wide and Claudia Walker would have been through on goal but a timely tackle from Ann-Katrin Berger.

Beth England came off the bench at the start of the second half and took less than six minutes to open the scoring, following up a save from an Erin Cuthbert strike to net her 50th WSL goal.

With less than 10 minutes to go, Cuthbert doubled the lead with a sweet strike from the edge of the box going inside the far post.

The result puts Chelsea within a point of leaders Arsenal, who host Brighton on Thursday evening.
