According to journalist Joel Gadea Anton, Barcelona are not expected to be very active in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The journalist mentions that rather than pursuing big-money signings, the club is fixated on making small tweaks to an already promising squad—a decision influenced by both financial barriers and the emergence of numerous younger stars.

This season, Barcelona have taken essential steps, particularly with the utilisation of La Masia and a bench able to help the group across all competitions.

What is said about the window?

That said, there are still some regions that Barcelona may look to enhance. One of the more noticeable worries lies at right-back, where Jules Kounde continues to shoulder a great workload.

The Frenchman has not missed a single game for club or country since November 2023, which highlights Barcelona’s overdependence on him.

Whilst Kounde has been a regular performer, the lack of a perfect backup may end up troubling Barcelona if not now, then next season..

Meanwhile, initial discussions around signing a new pivot have largely died down. Frenkie de Jong’s contract renewal is nearing completion, and Marc Bernal is predicted to return to action next season.

These developments have furnished Barcelona with enough self-belief that they can work without signing a pivot.

The left wing conundrum

Amidst all this, the left-wing position stays unresolved. The club recently opted against a move for Nico Williams, while a deal for Luis Diaz is proving to be financially unviable.

With Raphinha stepping up and Dani Olmo presenting versatility in attack, Flick is probably well-equipped without a specialised left winger.

As for the defence, it appears properly protected for now, as Flick is assured he has the depth required to rotate and compete in all competitions as well.
