Barcelona’s stance on the possibility of selling players for financial boost in the summer – report | OneFootball

FC Barcelona continue to battle Financial Fair Play problems which have often hindered them in the transfer market in recent years.

While a return to the 1:1 rule was celebrated in January, La Liga has revoked that following the latest audit of the club’s accounts which left out the €100 million income from the VIP seat sales at Camp Nou.

As such, there has been talk of the Blaugrana having to make important sales in the summer if they intend to sign new players.

Barcelona will not sell

However, according to journalist Miguel Rico (h/t Carpetas FCB), no player will be sold by Barcelona to plug financial gaps elsewhere in the club.

The management firmly believes that there is no necessity for such a strategy any longer as they remain confident about returning to the 1:1 ruling again by the summer.

Indeed, the club believes La Liga’s latest action, excluding them from the 1:1 rule, is merely temporary. They expect the matter to be settled soon, once the construction company certifies the delivery of 5% of the VIP seats to the two investors.

Barcelona maintain that the agreement with a Qatari firm, which already transferred €30 million for its share, and the deal with a Dubai-based group, which has paid €40 million out of the €70 million total, will be accounted for as soon as the VIP areas are formally handed over.

At that point, along with the €58 million already received, the final payment will be made, and the issue should be resolved by June.

No major movement

Furthermore, it is believed that Barça are planning to do “very little” when it comes to big signings in the summer.

The sporting management, while aware that some positions could be improved in both quality and quantity, believes this group is young and talented enough to achieve a great deal with only a few adjustments.

Any new signings, thus, will depend on who leaves in the summer, with funds generated from all exits set to be reinvested in the squad.
