Barcelona blew Athletic Bilbao away in the first half of their La Liga meeting on Sunday evening at Camp Nou.
Ernesto Valverde returned to the home of his former employers and saw his side fall victim to some outstanding attacking play.
The returning Ousmane Dembele put Barcelona 1-0 up with a marvellous header, goal machine Robert Lewandowski turning provider with a pinpoint cross.
Xavi Hernandez's side quickly made it 2-0 through Sergi Roberto, Dembele chipping in with the assist on this occasion.
And Dembele played the role of creator for a second time on the night just four minutes after Roberto's strike, Lewandowski the man to benefit from his brilliance.
The touch from Barcelona's new talisman to setup the goal was quite something as well. In fact, it was one worthy of Dennis Bergkamp in his prime - and no, that's not hyperbole.
Lewandowski's instant control inside the penalty area left poor ol' Oscar de Marcos trailing in his talented wake and the left-footed finish wasn't bad either.
Check out the brilliant Barcelona goal...
Stop that, Lewa! And a special shoutout to Dembele, whose marauding run from the right was also pretty darn special.
That's now 17 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions in a Barcelona shirt for the former Bayern Munich man.
He's not been a bad summer signing, has he?
Lewandowski has had a pretty good week all told. On Monday he won the inaugural Gerd Muller trophy at the Ballon d'Or gala and he followed that up by scoring a brilliant brace against Villarreal on Thursday.
Well played, Robert...
The Blaugrana added a fourth goal after the half-time break through substitute Ferran Torres and it was assisted by - you guessed it - Dembele, who received a standing ovation when replaced by young Pablo Torre.
The 4-0 victory for Barcelona keeps them just three points behind Real Madrid and they boast a superior goal difference in comparison to their El Clasico rivals.
Up next for Xavi and his merry men is a Champions League outing against Bayern Munich, a game they simply must win to retain any hope of reaching the knockout stage of the competition.
