Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the contract of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski will soon be automatically renewed.
This comes owing to a clause included in the terms of the deal signed by the Pole back in 2022.
Speaking during an appearance on ‘Barca One‘ this week, Joan Laporta was drawn on Lewandowski’s future in Catalunya’s capital.
As much comes ahead of the expiration of his current terms in the summer of 2025.
Barca’s president, though, went on to confirm that the club’s chief goalscorer will soon renew, specifically upon playing his part in 50% of the Blaugrana’s fixtures this season:
“We will extend the contract of Robert Lewandowski as soon as he reaches 50% of the games. It’s a clause already included into his contract.”
Lewandowski’s extension, when it does arrive, will come as an altogether deserved one.
The 36-year-old has looked something of a player reborn over the early weeks of the new season, under the watch of Hansi Flick.
All told, in 11 appearances across all competitions, Lewandowski has racked up 12 goals, and two assists.
