As the summer transfer window approaches, Barcelona’s attention turns to the potential moves and deals that could reshape their team for the upcoming season.

The club’s leadership is currently giving serious consideration to Xavi’s desire to reinforce the advanced central midfield position, a move they opted against last summer.

As such, Xavi Simons and Bernardo Silva are being keenly observed by the club, with Xavi advocating for either one of their signings.

Recent developments have indicated that the Catalans could be much closer to acquiring the former La Masia graduate’s signature, as a loan move beckons.

Simons the priority

Now, according to SPORT, FC Barcelona are clear that they will not hesitate to take advantage of the chance to get Xavi Simons on loan this summer.

While PSG are hesitant about transferring him this summer, they would be open to a loan deal.

Despite interest from other parties, Barcelona are confident that if Simons pushes for the move, PSG will ultimately agree to the transfer.

In fact, the Catalan giants prioritize Simons’ acquisition above Bernardo Silva’s because they value the Dutchman as a crucial addition to the squad.

The 21-year-old prospect is considered a Swiss army knife in the attack, who possesses the ability to operate as a false winger, an interior, and even a hypothetical ’10’ behind the striker.

Bernardo’s transfer will be impacted

Although Bernardo Silva is interested in Barcelona, the team’s top priorities right now are to strengthen its left wing and defensive midfield areas.

And if Simons joins on loan, Bernardo’s chances diminish unless significant departures occur, which is improbable at this point in time.

Furthermore, Barcelona’s investment in Lamine Yamal’s development on the right flank coincides with the Manchester City man’s favoured position.

As such, there is a genuine chance that Silva might not arrive at Barcelona again this summer, with the likelihood of that increasing if Simons is signed.
