Barcelona shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has refused to rule out his club’s prospects of retaining the La Liga title despite Real Madrid being in a commanding position.

The Blaugrana recently picked up a 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid on the road and that was able to reduce their deficit to Los Blancos from four points to just one with two games to play.

However, Zinedine Zidane’s side have a game in hand over Granada on the road on Monday night and they could restore their advantage at the top with a ninth league win on the bounce.

The Catalan giants are definitely in need of outside assistance as Los Blancos need to drop at least five points from their remaining three fixtures, but Ter Stegen has refused to give up on the Spanish crown.

He wrote on his official Twitter account: “One week of La Liga left and anything is possible. Forca Barca!”

The Germany international has been contracted to the reigning champions since the summer of 2014, when he made the move from hometown club Borussia Monchengladbach.

In his first two seasons, he was hardly used in the Spanish La Liga due to the presence of Claudio Bravo, but since the Chilean’s departure, he has been the undisputed choice between the sticks.

Against Valladolid, he bagged his 100th clean sheet from his 233rd appearance for the club. He has just under two years remaining on his contract and talks over an extension were recently postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
