Real Madrid captain and club legend Luka Modric will go down as one of the greatest midfielders of the modern era of football.

The Croatian has had an exceptional career at Real Madrid – winning 27 trophies since joining the club over a decade ago – the most by any player in the history of the club.

Even though he is set to turn 39 years old in a few weeks, Modric is still going strong which is a testament to his fitness, quality, and longevity.

Naturally, he is regarded as one of the best by many of his colleagues – be it teammates or rivals.

Dani Olmo names Modric as the best ever he has faced

Now, speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s new summer signing, Dani Olmo, has named Luka Modric as the best player he has ever faced in his career.

Not stopping at that, the Spanish international went on to name the Real Madrid captain as the one rival player he would love to have in his team.

Olmo has come up against Modric just once in club competitions when Real Madrid faced his former team, RB Leipzig, last season.

However, the two have faced off on three occasions in international football when Olmo’s Spain faced Modric’s Croatia in the UEFA Euro 2020, the UEFA Nations League final, and more recently in the UEFA Euro 2024.

With the first El Clasico of the season set to be played in the last week of October, Olmo will get a chance to take on the player who he considers the best he has ever faced.
