Barça are likely to return to Camp Nou early on in 2025, although the stadium is going to operate on a limited seating capacity.

Nevertheless, Barça have already started thinking big when it comes to how to utilise and monetise their revamped stadium.

Camp Nou in contention to host Women’s UCL final

According to a report from SPORT, UEFA has officially announced four candidate stadiums which may host the 2027 Women’s Champions League final.

Camp Nou has been listed as one of the candidates, alongside the National Stadium in Warsaw, St Jakob Park in Basel and the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff.

Although this is some stiff competition, Barcelona are hopeful that Camp Nou will be selected as the final venue to host the prestigious Women’s UCL final.

Barcelona have a deadline of March 19, 2025, to submit all documents regarding the facilities at Camp Nou. The final decision will be made on May 25, 2025.

Needless to say, Barcelona have dominated Europe when it comes to Women’s club football, notably winning three Champions League titles.

The club are also home to some of the top female footballers on the planet, with the likes of Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati winning the Ballon d’Or trophy in recent years.

Interestingly, though, the Camp Nou has never hosted the Women’s UCL final. Even in the Men’s version, the last time Camp Nou hosted a UCL final was back in 1999.

At the same time, meanwhile, UEFA will also decide the venue for the 2027 Men’s UCL final. In this case, only two candidates are competing with each other.

Atletico Madrid’s Civitas Metropolitano are competing with the Olympic Stadium in Baku.
