With the football on hold at the moment, we’ve been thinking about who gets in Barcelona’s all-time XI.

Today we’re choosing the goalkeeper.

Here are the nominees …

3rd – Antoni Ramallets

We’re going all the way back to the 1940s with this one. Ramellets joined Barcelona in 1944 at the age of 21 and stayed at the club for an incredible 16 years.

In that time, he made 546 appearances, winning five LaLiga titles and five Spanish cups. Before Ramallets was between the sticks at the club, they had been crowned champions of Spain just once.

He left a hero, and won the prestigious Zamora Trophy for LaLiga’s best goalkeeper a record five times. That record stands today and has only ever been matched by the man just ahead of him.

2nd – Víctor Valdés

There isn’t a trophy Valdés didn’t win at the club. A superb shot-stopper and very good with his feet, the goalkeeper established himself as the club’s number one at the age of 20 and held onto the position for over a decade.

A Champions League finalist and LaLiga winner under Frank Rijkaard, a winner of everything under Pep Guardiola, Valdés kept 20 or more clean sheets in EIGHT separate Barcelona seasons.

But he did have the occasional high-profile blunder and that’s the only reason he’s been pipped to first place.

And the winner is … Andoni Zubizarreta

The man with the most clean sheets in LaLiga history, Zubizarreta is a legend.

His longevity is incredible and he spent his peak years playing under Johan Cruyff at Camp Nou. The first Barcelona goalkeeper to win the Champions League, Zubizarreta was captain of the ‘Dream Team’ that finally ended Barcelona’s wait for the biggest prize in European football.

With 126 Spain caps and 235 clean sheets in 622 career LaLiga appearances, he’s a worthy winner.
